Man with Schizophrenia Beaten to Death by Police in California!

Kelly Thomas was a 37 year old man with Schizophrenia who was beaten my 6 police officers from the city of Fullerton CA. Apparently the Fullerton Police have a really bad reputation even before this horrible murder.

I have been following this story for weeks, but could not bring myself to look at the photographs. The images are worse then what I imagined!

One disturbing key in this story is how out of control these man were. Inspite of being adviced by bystanders that they were being recorded, they continued to beat and tazzer Kelly even though he was hancuffted and not moving, all his "I'm sorry" and his pleas to stop, that he "couldn't breath" were ignored. In the last moments of consciousness Kelly called for his dad to help him.

Kelly was homeless thought he had the support of his family.

They continued to beat Kelly, while witnesses screamed at them to stop, because he was not resisting. The fact that Kelly suffered with mental illness should have been taken into account. He needed understanding and kindness, not violence!

A bus driver in Fullerton, CA., had the good sense to record this conversation and this is what the witnesses had to say about the police beating of Kelly Thomas, who died as a result of the injuries caused by these murderers in uniform. The US is the great country, but within the cities, once in a while you'll find mini dictatorships, as was the case with the city of Bell in CA. If not for KFI 640 Radio Station and the new media, the Fullerton Police Department and the Mayor would have just made this story disappear.

Tensions rouse as the weeks passed and nothing was being done to bring the criminals to justice. In fact weeks after the murder, these thugs were still patrolling the streets of Fullerton-now that's a scary thought!! In an interesting twist, Kelly Thomas' father is himself a former police officer, who feels betrayed by his own brothers.

To get an idea how above the law the Fullerton police department think they are-the local Fullerton blog "Friends of Fullerton", was threaten with a lawsuit by a lawyer hired by the Police Union, for reporting on the corruption and crimes of this police department and in particular the Kelly Thomas beating.

This next video shows Fullerton Mayor Richard Jones loosing it during a counsel meeting and yelling at citizens demanding justice for Kelly, to shut up-how sensitive of him! This guy is a real peace of work and every time his opens his mouth another inflammatory comment come out. At one point he said "It's very traumatic. I've seen far worse. For 20 years I operated on people injured in Vietnam. Airplane accidents and other things. I've seen far worse injuries that were survivable. I don't know why he died."

Numerous protest have been staged by Fullerton citizens in the weeks following the murder. Every Saturday since the murder became public, a protest has been scheduled in from of the Fullerton P.D. Another form of protest used by Fullerton citizens has been to hunk the horn in protest, to which the police responded by handing out citations that were later voided.

Two of the six officers involved in Kelly Thomas beating were charged today.

Officer Manuel Ramos who knew who Kelly Thomas was before he beat him into a coma and Corporal Jay Cincinelli who helped beat Kelly remain on administrative leave-they are still getting paid.

Officer Manuel Ramos will be charged with second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. Cpl. Jay Cicinelli will be charged with involuntary manslaughter and use of excessive force. That's it??

The other four have not been charged and are also on administrative leave. In my book they are just as guilty as the other two. They stood by and did nothing to protect Kelly Thomas from to obvious murderers in uniform!The names of three of the other four are: Kenton Hampton, Joe Wolfe and James Blatney

Report Demands Immediate Congressional Action

Directors of the Elizabeth Birt Center for Autism Law and Advocacy (EBCALA), parents and vaccine-injured children will hold a press conference on the steps of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims (717 Madison Place, NW in Washington, DC) on Tuesday, May 10 at 12:00 PM to unveil an investigation linking vaccine injury to autism. For over 20 years, the federal government has publicly denied a vaccine-autism link, while at the same time its Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) has been awarding damages for vaccine injury to children with brain damage, seizures and autism. This investigation, based on public, verifiable government data, breaks new ground in the controversial vaccine-autism debate.

The investigation found that a substantial number of children compensated for vaccine injury also have autism. The government has asserted that it "does not track" autism among the vaccine-injured. Based on this preliminary investigation, the evidence suggests that autism is at least three times more prevalent among vaccine-injured children than among children in the general population.

The federal government has called autism a "national health emergency," conservatively affecting 1 in 110 children and costing the country billions of dollars each year.

Because almost all children in the United States are required by law to receive between 30-45 vaccines in order to attend public school, it is crucial that the VICP decide cases with justice and transparency.

EBCALA and the families of the vaccine-injured call on Congress to investigate the VICP, the only forum in which parents may bring claims of vaccine injury on behalf of their children.

Dr. Andrew Wakefield is a renowned gastroenterologist specializing in inflammatory bowel disease and the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine or MMR. He is a former Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and has published over 130 original scientific papers and medical studies. In the course of his work, Wakefield found himself the subject to published claims of deliberate fraud by investigative journalist Brian Deer, resulting in a complex, multi-faceted scandal which, to date, has endured without a definitive resolution.

Clifford Miller is a lawyer in Kent in the UK and a solicitor of the supreme court of England civil proceedings, who has specialized in intellectual property, anti-trust and legal issues in the electronics and communication fields. Over the years he has been active in investigating vaccine issues and science.

Isabella Thomas is the most vocal of all parents involved in the initial study conducted by Dr. Wakefield. She has two autistic children that were both patients in the Royal Free study documented in the Lancet report. Out of her four children, only the 2 who received the MMR vaccines have serious bowel disorders and autism. She is also the main parent that Brian Deer has been attacking, even though she is not a member of any anti-vaccination group in the UK.

It is noted in their sponsorship policy that the BMJ Group sells advertisements, they have seminars and conferences, and that they have commercial intent and principals.

The British Medical Journal is in it for the money, what other reasons would they have to promote vaccines as safe and discredit a medical doctor? After all there is no financial gain in supporting Dr. Wakefield’s findings in fact they would incur the wrath of pharmaceuticals.

There in lies the meat to this tale of false claims and headlines by the BMJ group who have tainted their own reputation deeply by this assault on the character and findings of Dr. Wakefield. Needless to say they are calling 12 parents liars, cheats and their stories are bogus but they still have autistic children to this day.

You also have to find who is on their board of directors at the British Medical Journal -who runs the board and by what means are they financed? Still you can’t find this information in the television media tripe that comes out of CNN these days.

Dr. Andrew Wakefield is a bowel doctor he was not out to discredit MMR vaccines but found a direct correlation between children who received the MMR vaccine and within hours, days or weeks developed neurological, intestinal and serious side effects.

The BMJ is incredible falsifying information about Dr. Wakefield which is ludicrous false and bears a great investigation.

Brian Deer well knows that he has dug up an old story of a journalist now becoming a doctor with the credentials to be a medical expert on vaccines. One would have to understand how he is compensated by investigating his back payments, secret bank accounts and any payment he received in connection with discrediting Dr. Wakefield or any author of any document that supports the dangers of vaccines especially the MMR?

How many years did Deer study medicine? When does a journalist become an expert for drugs or vaccines who has a vendetta against Dr. Wakefield is this guy credible? Brian Dee also does stories on love sickness or sexual interests disorders as a claim to fame.

Urging Both Scientists and Journalists to Do More Thorough Research Into Vaccines and Autism

Last week, an article in the British Medical Journal (BMJ), written by a freelance newspaper reporter, Brian Deer, created a media firestorm in the United States. In his article, Brian Deer accuses Dr. Andrew Wakefield of deliberate fraud regarding his 1998 case series, which was published in the British journal, The Lancet. Dr. Wakefield reported that the children in his case series were suffering from a novel form of bowel disease and that parents reported a temporal link between the onset of symptoms and receipt of the MMR vaccine. Contrary to what has been reported in the media over the years, Dr. Wakefield never stated that the MMR vaccine caused autism. These libelous accusations are based on the flimsiest possible construct. Deer claims fraud on the basis of differences between the case histories in the Lancet study and the children's private medical records which Deer obtained under questionable circumstances. Since the team at the Royal Free Hospital never had access to the children's private medical records, it was impossible for them to know what was in them and, therefore, impossible for them to fraudulently report something different. It is standard practice in medicine for a specialist seeing a new patient to take a new history. Of the parents involved in the original study, none have made any complaint, at any time, against Dr. Wakefield. In the case of the only parent we can confirm Brian Deer actually spoke to, Deer used false pretenses and the alias "Brian Lawrence" to obtain the interview. The parent did not turn over any medical records to him.

The undersigned autism organizations, representing thousands of parents, are deeply disturbed by this most recent character assassination of Dr. Andrew Wakefield. This is an attempt to discredit a doctor who has been extraordinarily courageous in treating and researching children suffering with both bowel disease and autism. He has paid a high personal price for his refusal to walk away from children who are suffering and has earned the utmost respect from the families of these children. We believe this is an industry-driven attempt to shift public attention away from legitimate concerns about vaccine reactions and the development of autism. Science, even controversial findings, should not be distorted by fear or greed.

The truth in this story is that Dr. Wakefield's findings of bowel disease in association with autism have been replicated (see references) and his work along with that of other doctors has advanced the treatment of these children to the point that the journal, Pediatrics, has published a paper on the treatment for gastrointestinal symptoms in children with autism. The issue of whether MMR is causal for this subgroup of autistic children remains an open question. The epidemiological studies that claim to prove there is no link between the MMR and autism have not had the statistical power to rule out a link for a subset of susceptible children. Much study remains to be done. Attempts to "shoot the messenger" will only result in further erosion of public trust.

On my son's Michael's behalf I will say that without Dr. Wakefield's courage to publish his findings, I would not have been able to help him. I remember going to Regional Center for help and their expert advice was to put him on psychotic medications. Every time I tried to get help from a doctor, Michael got treated like just another crazy person. Though the MMR is not the only culprit in his autism, since DTaP left him lethargic and he didn't smiled much and lost all eye contact, after receiving it, the MMR condemned him to a life of pain and 12 years later the pain continues.

New Study proves once again that Dr. Wakefield's findings were accurate.

New American research shows that there could be a link between the controversial MMR triple vaccine and autism and bowel disease in children.

The study appears to confirm the findings of British doctor Andrew Wakefield, who caused a storm in 1998 by suggesting a possible link.

Now a team from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in North Carolina are examining 275 children with regressive autism and bowel disease - and of the 82 tested so far, 70 prove positive for the measles virus.

First Boy Diagnosed with Autism by Dr. Kanner, Recovered!!

The first boy diagnosed by Dr. Leo Kanner with Autism in 1943, has been found alive and well. He grew up to live a happy, successful life. He is 77 and lives in Mississippi. John Donvan and Caren Zucker tracked him down for an article in The Atlantic on adults with autism.

Donald Triplett has been known in medical literature as Donald T. Patient zero. He was treated with Gold Salts when as a child he developed Arthritis. He got better, but he also began to recover from Autism.

As it turns out he had been exposed to Mercury. Kanner's patient zero lived in an area where a water soluble form of Mercury was first used in forestry! Dr. Kanner didn't document this treatment and would have gone unnoticed if not for the fact that Donald is alive well. He was interviewed by the author of the book "Age of Autism", on sale now. I know Amazon.com carries it.

Chapter 6 is where you will find Donald Triplett, who decided to come out of his self-imposed anonymity to be interviewed in May of 2009 by Olmsted and Blaxill to expand on the public understanding of his story for the book.

We have been right all along and justice for our poisoned children is long over due.

TRUMBULL -- For a 9-year-old autistic girl, hell was riding the school bus every day.
That's when, police say, the 24-year-old bus monitor, Jennifer Davila, would torture the young girl, pinching her, poking her, wrenching the girl's small fingers as they drove along the route from the girl's home to school and back again.

For the girl's mother it was a nightmare come true.

"Imagine having a child who can't tell you she has been hurt but she has been severely injured several times," said the mother, who asked that her name not be used. "It's agony. You send your child into what you expect is a safe environment and then learn later it was in fact a place of danger to her. It's just unthinkable." On Tuesday morning Davila, of East Washington Avenue in Bridgeport, appeared in Superior Court in Bridgeport.

Davila is charged with three counts of risk of injury to a child and three counts of third-degree assault on a disabled person. Free on bond, her case was continued without a plea to Sept. 9.

"My client denies all the allegations against her and we are going to continue to investigate the state's claims," said Davila's lawyer, Stuart Hawkins.

According to police, on at least three occasions last April and May, Davila, a monitor on a bus for special needs children for the First Student Bus Co., abused the little girl. Police said there could have been more incidents but only three were captured on the bus's video surveillance camera.

Sleeping in the Bathtub

Last spring Mickie started to fall sleep in odd places including the bathtub, so I started to documented and put together this video. Shortly after he began to regress and I just didn't have the motivation to upload it, but I decided to share it now, since I thought it was cute at the time. I think he was looking for cool places to sleep-though we have central air conditioning, I guessing the bathtub must feel pretty fresh and cool.

As the years have passed I have found myself making changes in my home that I never imagined, but the idea of being able to sleep the few hours at night without worrying about my son Mickie getting hurt kept me making the changes that have helped regain some sense of security.

One should never underestimate people with Autism. They are very smart, no matter how it seems and will plan for days even months a way around any security measures to get to what they want.

My son used to get into everything and for a time life was very chaotic for his sisters and me, so I modified our home as soon as a new behavior arrived. This has made it possible for him to roam free around his home, even at night, without getting hurt. He still needs to be watched when he is awake, but the changes have helped.

1. All outlets covered with metal plates (he used to rip them off and try to take out the electric cables, so don't use plastic, because they will rip them off)

2. Locked Kitchen (he also has an insatiable appetite and has pica)

3. Security doors leading to the outside (he is a wanderer)

4. Pictures bolted to the walls (took everything off the walls before)

5. All cabinets locked (used to empty them and make a huge mess)

6. Zero access to heaters and air conditioner units (used to try to pull off the cables)

7 TV enclosed in a wood case with plexy glass in front (used to brake electronics)

8 Clean floors (he would otherwise pick things up and put them in his mouth)

9 Cabinets are secured to the wall (he is a climber)

10 An outside valve to turn off the water in his bathroom (likes to run the water and flooded his bathroom years ago)Etc.....

For parents like me, dealing with the severe part of the Autism spectrum, Dr. Wakefield's findings gave us hope and a reason for the chaos that no one else could explain. I have never meet him and probably never will, but nevertheless I will be forever in his debt. This witch hunt against a good doctor is disheartening and unfair. I am so very sad to hear he has resign from Thoughtful House Center for Children.

Council, which regulates doctors in the U.K., found that Wakefield was dishonest and irresponsible in conducting research on children in England a dozen years ago. The panel also said Wakefield showed a "callous disregard" for children at his child's birthday party in 1999 when he had blood taken from them and paid them about $10 each. He later joked at a conference about the children being "paid for their discomfort."
Wakefield's 1998 work, published in The Lancet, a prestigious British medical journal, fueled a worldwide scare over vaccines and autism. The Lancet retracted the study earlier this month.
Thoughtful House would not answer questions about Wakefield's departure. By Thursday morning, he was removed from the center's staff list, and the center issued a statement when asked whether Wakefield had resigned.
"The needs of the children we serve must always come first," it said. "All of us at Thoughtful House are grateful to Dr. Wakefield for the valuable work he has done here. We fully support his decision to leave Thoughtful House in order to make sure that the controversy surrounding the recent findings of the General Medical Council does not interfere with the important work that our dedicated team of clinicians and researchers is doing on behalf of children with autism and their families. All of us at Thoughtful House continue to fight every day for the recovery of children with developmental disorders."
Wakefield, who is in his early 50s, helped draw musicians and other celebrities to the Thoughtful House, where he was said to be in charge of research.
Parents who brought their children to the clinic said they saw him as a persecuted hero whose staff helped their children improve. The parents said they believe in the theory he advanced in the Lancet paper — that some children might develop a form of autism and gastrointestinal disease from exposure to the combined measles-mumps-rubella vaccine.
Other researchers have widely disputed the theory. Mainstream practitioners also oppose many of the alternative treatments at Thoughtful House, including chelation — the use of chemicals to remove metals from the body.
Starting April 7 in England, Wakefield will go to the next level of hearings before the General Medical Council, which will decide whether he is guilty of serious professional misconduct and whether he should be sanctioned, which could include losing his medical license.
Wakefield does not have a U.S. medical license.
Last month, he told reporters outside the medical council's office in London, "The allegations against me and against my colleagues are both unfounded and unjust. I repeat, unfounded and unjust, and I invite anyone to examine the contents of these proceedings and come to their own conclusion."

Lack of Empathy

Tonight I was reminded of the long road ahead for Mickie.

It was right before his bed time, when I noticed he had an accident on the carpet in his room. It's really no big deal to me, though I usually clean in the morning, I didn't want him to walk around in a dirty carpet. I got the shampooer out and proceeded to clean the area.

As I walked out of his room I stepped over the wet area of the carpet and as soon as I set foot on the tile floor I slipped and fell on my left knee. I screamed once, then just tried to breath slowly till the pain subsided, but I couldn't get up right away. I looked up and saw Mickie walking towards me, and he looked annoyed, but at first glance I thought he was sad because I was hurt, but instead, he just started pushing me to get up. I suppose he knows I don't belong on the hallway floor.

It was then that I was painfully reminded once again, that Mickie feels no empathy yet. I don't remember a time when he cried when someone cried or got hurt. I understand that this is an autistic trade, but I have heard of cases where they develop empathy and in time my hope is that Mickie will too.

Emergency Medicine at It's Best

Last Friday afternoon, as I was walking back in the house from the back porch, where I had just started a load of laundry, I heard Mickie cry. He was in the hallway that leads to my bedroom and making the eeeeee sound that usually follows pain. There was blood running down the right side of his face! I immediately imagined the worse. I thought he had cracked his skull open and I couldn't tell where all the blood was coming from. I embraced him and screamed for my daughter who was towards the front of the house.

I didn't want to look! I've fainted at the site of blood before, so she and her big brother looked for me. It was a cut on his left eyebrow, only I didn't see it, because Mickie's hair is very long.

I called the paramedics, who eased my worries about the wound not being as serious as I first thought. The ambulance drove him to the hospital and I rode in the back with him. Mickie seemed more worried about being in a strange vehicle then about the cut on his face. He was taken to San Antonio Hospital in Upland, Cafifornia, where upon arrival an older looking nurse greeted him with a cute brown plush dog. He took it and made it his own right away, but continued to fuzz and cry. A bracellet with his name was placed in his left arm, which he proceeded to rip off.

We were then taken to a private room, in the new emergency wing. A nurse walked in and asked me if he was allergic to anything-a trick question for me, because Michael is not allergic on paper, but very sencitive to milk protein and his body does not flush out heavy metals very well. She asked me if I wanted him to have a Tetanus shot, to which I replied.........

His autism is directly linked to the vaccines he recieved as a baby and the last time he was vaccinated, was in 2000. He can't get rid of metals. Does it contain Mercury?

She said....Oh this one probably does.

She walked out and a few minutes later a male nurse walken in with her and decided they would go old school and stich him up without putting him under anestheshia, which sounded great to me.

A few minutes later the doctor walked in and she said to him something like......Just for the record she is refusing a tenanus shot, so there's no need to ask her again.

While they got ready I heard them talking about how they didn't understand why they can't just stitch kids up without putting them to sleep or waiting for ex-rays and keeping them there for hours.

The male nurse rapped Mickie in a sheet folded in 4 and held him down, while the female nurse held his head. I held his legs, so he didn't push up-he has strong legs. The doctor proceded to apply a local anesthetic, then he put in the three stitches, which he tripple knotted to make sure Mickie didn't pull them out.

I couldn't help but noticed how much they enjoyed praticing medicine.
They patched my special boy old school and sent him home within an hour-It doesn't get any better then that.

Later that day when I told my mom how he was treated-she releid to me, that San Antonio Hospital was ranked within the best 100 hospitals in the US. It was easy to understand how they had earned that status. A thankyou note is on it's way to the nurses and doctors at the emergercy room.

ATLANTA – As millions of Americans remain concerned about government-recommended flu shots, dozens of citizens dressed in full haz-mat suits will gather Wednesday, October 21, at the entrance to the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) to greet arriving members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. Those advisors are meeting, Wednesday, starting at 8:00am. The event is designed to dramatize the toxicity of the H1N1 vaccine and Flu shot as they meet to discuss the H1N1 vaccine.

“We want the public to see just how toxic these vaccines are. If a vaccine vile is spilled, a haz-mat team is required for clean-up and the vaccine must be disposed of as biohazardous waste. Since when has the human body been deemed a toxic waste dump?” asks Karey Williams of Moms Against Mercury.

These protesters believe government health officials have not told all they know about the potential hazards of the H1N1 vaccine and the seasonal flu shot which they are also recommending. Officials do not deny that many flu vaccines will contain Thimerosal, a mercury based preservative, and a number of other toxins including ethylene glycol (antifreeze), formaldehyde, phenol, and antibiotics.

Thimerosal has been linked to neurodevelopmental disorders. Government-mandated warnings known as Material Safety Data Sheets warn of mild to severe mental retardation in unborn infants exposed in utero, yet flu shots are recommended by the CDC to all pregnant women.

According to Dr. Joseph Mercola, board-certified family physician, H1N1 vaccines made by Novartis and GlaxoSmithKline both contain immune system boosters known as squalene. One of them, known as MF-59, has yet to be approved by the FDA and has been linked to the Gulf War Syndrome.

“ Two studies out this month point to evidence that mercury in vaccines causes neurological damage. One found 1 in 71 vaccinated children born in the 1990’s, have received an autism diagnosis. Another study discovered brain damage in newborn monkeys who were given a mercury-containing Hepatitis B vaccine,” says Scott Laster of SafeMinds.

The protest starts at 7:30am on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at the gates of the CDC at 1600 Clifton Road, as the participants for the ACIP meeting arrive.

The Object of His Obsession

One of the things that an Autism diagnosis takes from a home, is the sense of normalcy. I remember, that it took me about a year to come to the realization, that life as I knew it, was over and that there was no turning back.

For the past two years or so, cooking has become a struggle. Mickie would cry for as long as I was preparing his sisters food. He wanted everything that I was cooking, but the couldn't eat any of it, an account that his diet is very restricted-SCD,GFCF, etc.

By the end of every evening my head would be hurting and his sister and I were unable to enjoy our meal. For the last eight months I gave up cooking all together.

For months, Mickie had been placing random items behind the refrigerator, Anything from his blankets, to his shoes, backpack, lunch pail, plates, spoons and then it escalated to the burners and grids from the stove. He had started with little things like trash and spoons, but as with all obsessions, a little was not enough for him and he soon started moving the refrigerator forward in order to fit bigger items.

He would put things behind the refrigerator throughout the day-one thing here, one thing there. He then continued in the middle of the night. I remember waking up to the noise of items trickling down the back of the refrigerator and not even my Shakespeare and Hemingway books were spared.

Every morning after I sent him off to school, I would start the tedious task of sorting through the vast amounts of stuff, stuck behind the fridge, which would take me anywhere from thirty minutes to 3 hours.

One morning in particular, I walked into the kitchen area, to find my frail looking boy carrying the Microwave oven across the room towards the table, so I took it out to the garage area.

Fresh flowers and plants behind the sink were now a memory, as they would end up torn up, all over the floor.

Having a trashcan, became impossible, as he would turn it upside down and many times eat food items that he found in it.

My mom had suggested a wall around the kitchen with a door I could lock. I toiled with the idea for the passed year and finally decided to try it.

With nothing more then a wall, the object of Mickie's obsession, was eliminated. The kitchen is now a separate room. After years of struggling with this issue, it has been solved and it didn't take psychotic medication nor biomedical interventions, nor hours of research on the Internet.

I remember wondering that now that he had no access to the kitchen, what would he go after next? I guess I will worry about crossing that bridge, when I get to it. In the mean time, I'm enjoying a much calmer Mickie and the fresh flowers in my kitchen again.

A Box to Protect the TV Set

I wanted to share this, with parents who have autistic children, that tend to be destructive with electronics. I remember a few years ago having a conversation with a mom from Sacramento, who's son had severe autism and had already broken dozens of VCRs. Little did I know that I would be facing the same dilemma a few years later.

Mickie has always like watching TV and right around the time of his diagnosis liked it more then his own family-which wasn't a good thing. If someone stood in front of his view, he would just look around them as if people were mere objects.

Over the course of the last three years, he has gone from watching some TV to nothing at all. First he wanted the same DVD to play day and night then one day he just unplugged the DVD Player and the TV set.

Before he just gave up on TV, he broke quite a few DVD players and had many meltdowns because he would turn the channel and get a fuzzy screen, then wanted it changed back to the right channel, but didn't know how. One night after midnight he came to my door and took me by the hand so I could change the channel for him. He did this thirty times. I guess this is what psychology calls Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, but in Mickie it's multiplied times 10.

So for the last few months he hasn't watched anything and it bothers me, because he can always learn something even from a TV show, and he is so sensitive to people voices that it's impossible to get him to pay attention.

Recently while talking with my mom about this, she came up with the idea of building a Wood box in the closed and placing a TV inside, then covering the front with Plexiglas. Mom is always fool of ideas and she always comes to the rescue when I am at a loss for ideas.

This week I was lucky enough to find a good Samaritan who was nice enough to build the box we needed. From the room next to his, I control the digital box and the Television. He can't turn it on nor off. Last night I got everything to work and Mickie couldn't have been more thrilled.

When he got home from school today and walked in his room, and noticed the cartoons were playing on his TV, he smiled and that was all I needed to make my day.

Mickie's Sister Got Married

Last Monday my oldest daughter Zina got married.

It would have been a disaster if not for my mother's help who took care of Mickie throughout the day.

I sent Mickie to school in the morning since his school's schedule is a little different then public school. At 1:00, my mom was waiting for him.

When he got home she fed him and took him with her so I could get ready for the special day.

Everything went smoothly except for Mickie's two bruised eyes. He left for school with his face just fine, but had a meltdown at school during waiting time-he hates to wait and hit his eyes, giving himself two cuts under the eyes.

During the wedding my mom kept an eye on him. He loved the food, especially the meat-he does so love his meat, though he can't have to much of it, due to the digestive issues. I was really surprised by how calm he remained during the ceremony and the music playing.

He must have been concentrating on the sounds of the music, during the conga line the best man started, because the next day he was whistling Gloria Stefan's Conga song, without missing a note.

It was a great day and my Zina was very happy!

The King of Pop Has Died!!

Michael was rushed to L A Medical Center and suffered a cardiac arrest.

The Worse of Autism

There are a lot of things that I hate about the level of Autism Mickie suffers from. The sleepless nights, the bathroom accidents, the huge messes, the lack of speech, the medical needs, the digestive problems, etc.

A few weeks ago, he left the kitchen empty and put everything he could on the other side of the safety gate, but I can live with that. I just hate the self injuries. I could live with all the other behaviors and problems, but when I see the damage he inflicts on himself I just can't bare it.

A few days ago, Mickie came home looking terrible. His eyes were bruised and he had a cut under each eye. I guess he was lucky he bleed through those cuts or he would have had two black eyes.

The report from school stated that he got frustrated while waiting-he doesn't like too wait and that day, he just lost it.

He was very cranky and seem to be in pain for most of the afternoon, but a pain reliever seemed to help.

Sometimes he bangs his head, but for the most part he places his closed fists on his eye sockets and presses down really hard and this is how the cuts happen. When he does it at home, we always try our best to detour him or stop him, but at school they don't like to restrain him.

I hadn't seen him like this in such a while that it was very shocking. When his sisters saw him, they were very sad too. Luckily the next morning he looked a lot better and the pain seemed to have gone away.

It has been said, that this noble tradition began unofficially during the Civil War, but was officially proclaimed on May 5th, 1868 by General Juan Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his general order No.11, and was first observed on May 30, 1868, when flowers were placed in the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery.

A day doesn't seem like enough to remember our fallen soldiers, who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom. Lets remember them everyday.

(NaturalNews) You see it in newspapers and websites across the 'net: People insisting that 13-year-old Daniel Hauser must be injected with chemotherapy in order to "save his life," and that anyone refusing to go along with that is a criminal deserving of arrest and imprisonment.

What's most astonishing about the mainstream reaction to the forced chemotherapy of Daniel Hauser is not merely that they believe states now own the children, but that they believe in the entire world there exists but one single treatment for cancer, and it happens to be the one that makes pharmaceutical companies the most money. The arrogance (and ignorance) of that position is mind boggling.

There was once a time when western medical doctors believed that the heavy metal mercury was a medicine, too. They methodically used mercury to treat hundreds of different diseases and conditions, oblivious to the fact that they were actually poisoning people with this toxic heavy metal.

And yet, imagine if authorities had arrested parents for not treating their children with mercury. Imagine if they threw parents in prison for refusing their "mercury medicine." That would be equivalent to today's arrogant, misguided and extremely dangerous campaign to outlaw saying "no" to chemotherapy.

A brief history of medical quackery

It was mercury, in fact, that led to the term "quack." Mercury is called "quicksilver," and those doctors who prescribed it were eventually discovered to be pushing toxic chemicals rather than any real medicine. They were initially called "quicks" and then later "quacks."

The quackery of those doctors prescribing mercury wasn't hard to miss: People taking the mercury would get extremely ill. Their hair would fall out. They would lose their appetite and experience extreme loss of body weight. Many would simply die from the toxicity.

Remarkably, these are the same side effects produced by chemotherapy. And today, chemotherapy doctors describe these side effects in precisely the same terms as the mercury quacks of a century ago, claiming the effects are "part of the healing process" and encouraging patients to find the courage to "just go through with it."

But let's pull our heads out of the muck here and acknowledge the obvious: Poisoning patients -- whether with mercury or chemotherapy -- will never produce healing. Today, the mother of 13-year-old Daniel Hauser is on the run, having skipped out on the Minnesota court that ordered her to poison her own child. She is now considered criminally negligent by the state -- a parent who belongs behind bars and will likely be imprisoned when she is arrested at gunpoint.

And yet, I ask you this: What else could she have done? To appear in court and submit her child to chemical injections of a toxic substance would amount to child abuse. How to Protect Yourself Against Swine Flu Without Dangerous Drugs and Vaccinations

For now, my point is that there are always going to be threats of flu pandemics, real or created, and there will always be potentially toxic vaccines that are peddled as the solution. But you can break free of that whole drug-solution trap by following some natural health principles.

I have not caught a flu in over two decades, and you can avoid it too, without getting vaccinated, by following these simple guidelines, which will keep your immune system in optimal working order so that you're far less likely to acquire the infection to begin with.

Optimize your vitamin D levels. As I've previously reported, optimizing your vitamin D levels is one of the absolute best strategies for avoiding infections of ALL kinds, and vitamin D deficiency is likely the TRUE culprit behind the seasonality of the flu -- not the flu virus itself.

This is probably the single most important and least expensive action you can take. I would STRONGLY urge you to have your vitamin D level monitored to confirm your levels are therapeutic at 50-70 ng.ml and done by a reliable vitamin D lab like Lab Corp.

For those of you in the US we hope to launch a vitamin D testing service through Lab Corp that allows you to have your vitamin D levels checked at your local blood drawing facility, and relatively inexpensively. We hope to offer this service by June 2009.

If you are coming down with flu like symptoms and have not been on vitamin D you can take doses of 50,000 units a day for three days to treat the acute infection. Some researchers like Dr. Cannell, believe the dose could even be as high as 1000 units per pound of body weight for three days.

Avoid Sugar and Processed Foods. Sugar decreases the function of your immune system almost immediately, and as you likely know, a strong immune system is key to fighting off viruses and other illness. Be aware that sugar is present in foods you may not suspect, like ketchup and fruit juice.

Have Effective Tools to Address Stress . We all face some stress every day, but if stress becomes overwhelming then your body will be less able to fight off the flu and other illness.

Take a good source of animal based omega-3 fats like Krill Oil. Increase your intake of healthy and essential fats like the omega-3 found in krill oil, which is crucial for maintaining health. It is also vitally important to avoid damaged omega-6 oils that are trans fats and in processed foods as it will seriously damage your immune response.
Wash Your Hands. Washing your hands will decrease your likelihood of spreading a virus to your nose, mouth or other people. Be sure you don't use antibacterial soap for this -- antibacterial soaps are completely unnecessary, and they cause far more harm than good. Instead, identify a simple chemical-free soap that you can switch your family to.
Eat Garlic Regularly. Garlic works like a broad-spectrum antibiotic against bacteria, virus, and protozoa in the body. And unlike with antibiotics, no resistance can be built up so it is an absolutely safe product to use. However, if you are allergic or don't enjoy garlic it would be best to avoid as it will likely cause more harm than good.
Avoid Hospitals and Vaccines In this particular case, I'd also recommend you stay away from hospitals unless you're having an emergency, as hospitals are prime breeding grounds for infections of all kinds, and could be one of the likeliest places you could be exposed to this new bug. Vaccines will not be available for six months at the minimum but when available they will be ineffective and can lead to crippling paralysis like Guillain-Barré Syndrome just as it did in the 70s.

Autism is Not Mental Illness: Get it Out of the DSM

In this month of Autism Awareness, I am ever so aware of the great disparity for our children on the autism spectrum regarding their diagnosis and healthcare. It brings to light some major changes that need to take place in order to not only stop the perpetual, exponentially expanding numbers of children developing autism, but to provide the already affected children with proper medical care and treatment.

In a health care community that listed homosexuality as a psychiatric disorder on the DSM until 1973, and recognizes alcoholism, addiction and obesity as diseases, our children are suffering and being denied proper medical attention. Not only are our doctors not acknowledging our children’s medical ailments, they are flat out denying to us that they are occurring or that somehow these conditions are some normal variation of childhood.

This needs to stop immediately. It will only stop when parents demand competent and educated pediatricians for their children and settle for nothing less. We must no longer listen to the false and unsubstantiated litany of canned text responses we hear from uninformed, uneducated pediatricians and specialists. We must no longer accept the standard answers that all refer back to one, already discredited study, regarding vaccine safety. When pediatricians site their references, how many parents ask them to explain that information? How many doctors could? And yet, how many parents that we know can site study after study, and explain biochemical abnormalities ‘til the cows come home?Autism as a diagnosis must be removed from the DSM. Period. It is a medical disorder, with many causes, some of them genetic and totally unrelated to a psychiatric diagnosis altogether. Down’s syndrome is a medical diagnosis, has an identifiable genetic abnormality, and a range of associated features also affecting that person developmentally. It is not, however, diagnosed using the DSM. Autism is not currently recognized as a medical disorder because, if not diagnosed as a known genetic cause, it is a disorder caused by environmental insult, including vaccines.

The resulting medical problems are symptoms of the underlying cause, not the disorder itself. But because this medical disorder is caused by vaccines given to our children by the very people who are supposed to care for them and keep them healthy, it will not be recognized as such. No other disorder, psychiatric or otherwise, is so blatantly denied its medical or biochemical component except autism.

No amount of early detection or early intervention will reverse a disease process unless it is treated medically. It is a process, that left untreated, will perpetuate itself to variable degrees in each individual with sometimes irreversible and devastating effects. The medical community turning its back on basic medical principles in treating their autistic patients’ symptoms first can only be referred to as gross malpractice.

The pediatricians that are treating our children should be ashamed and embarrassed at their complete negligence and incompetence in recognizing a pattern of symptoms that is seen over and over again, hundreds, and thousands of times in this patient population. And yet, they cling to their outdated, obviously inadequate standard answers and bury their heads in the sand while our children suffer and sink deeper and deeper into Autism. Every parent of an autistic child has heard some ridiculous, condescending statement from a physician while they ignored that same child’s obvious vaccine reaction, or explosive diarrhea, abdominal pain, mysterious rash, poor weight gain, reflux, relentless fever, immune dysfunction, and on, and on. And they ignore us, because they can.

Pediatricians, vaccine manufacturers, the CDC, and our federal government are all protected under laws that are unconstitutional. That’s right. Your pediatrician doesn’t have to worry about being sued for your child’s descent into Autism after their MMR, or Proquad because the US Federal Government says so. Even though adequate informed consent is never provided, and protocols for vaccinating are rarely followed appropriately.

Children get vaccinated without being screened for immune dysfunction, mitochondrial disorders, and even when they have a febrile illness, all inappropriate according to the vaccine makers’ own recommendations. Yet, where are all the suits being filed for this obvious malpractice? Because, as parents, we are spending every waking moment and every dime we have trying to recover our children, we have no resources to venture into this legal arena with special masters and shorter statute of limitations. In a country where the father of a child that resulted from a rape has a legal right to that child, our children have no legal rights. By the time we navigate the myriad of professionals that are deemed qualified to diagnose our children as autistic, our statute of limitations has already expired. It will take one individual with deep pockets and a fire burning in their soul, to bring change. There is no exemption for gross negligence by a physician even if it’s one of our kids. You are not protected under the umbrella of indifference. It will only take one case, one precedent. Change will happen.

The controversy about vaccines rages on, but only in the minds of those officials who are themselves, responsible for the conspiracy to conceal the truth about vaccines. All of the supposed nonexistent, mainstream medical studies that apply to vaccines, and thimerosol, mitochondrial disorder and dysfunction, seizure disorder, aluminum etc. are all easily accessed by anyone with a computer and half a brain. This may explain why the officials, that coincidentally have some type of connection to vaccine manufacturers, cannot seem to find them. All of the necessary medical documentation, studies, information, case studies, etc. are there and readily available for anyone who wasn’t deluding themselves that they can still go on national television and tout that everything is okay. This political, money driven quagmire will come to an end. Big tobacco took a fall and so will vaccine pushers. And I’m thinking of one gentleman in particular, I think we all know who that is, you will not make it off this planet in an upward direction, sir.

I’ll leave you with the thought that for the same reasons that people fought for civil rights, government officials are impeached, landmark cases are won, people have overcome adversity throughout history to affect change, we must do the same for our cause. I will pledge from this day forward that the next time I get that look from a doctor, you know, the placating one you get when you start to talk gastrointestinal, I will put my foot down. I will say, “Why do you look at me that way? Do you not believe what I am saying or are you just not aware how negligent you have been in my child’s care? Why did you not recommend a genetic work up for my child? Why have you not tested his lead level before now? Why is it that while I sit here in receipt of that condescending look, you don’t even realize that every new piece of information I have found out about my child’s medical condition is because I looked for it and not you? As we sit here right now,
I know infinitely more about how to treat the medical condition of autism than you, and quite frankly, you should be on the receiving end of that very same look you are giving me. As we sit here and you comment on how well my child is doing, and how far he has come, it is only because of me, and not you, acting as his medical professional and managing his care, and at the same time, being damn good at it.”

So pediatricians, and specialists be aware and beware. We will no longer tolerate substandard, negligent care for our kids. And while we might be the government’s scapegoat right now, that curtain will come down, and they will sell you out just as fast. And then my friends, you won’t be able to afford your malpractice insurance.

So today is the international day of Autism awareness. It's a day like any other at our house. I wonder if anything is going to change with the awareness day. There will probably be a few mentions here and there of how many cases and how hard it is to live with autism.

They'll be no mention about the causes millions of parents have been suspecting for years now. Vaccines are a touchy subject when it comes to "Big Pharma" and their beneficiaries in the halls Congress and the Senate loosing money. I don't want to see another cookie cutter story about what it's like to live autism. All I want to see is the treatments available now, being covered by all insurances, including government insurances, which don't cover then at the moment.

I want to see my son thrive again!!

A formal complaint against journalist Brian Deer was delivered to the Press Complaints Commission (PCC) today, March 16, 2009, on behalf of Dr. Andrew Wakefield, the physician whose autism research has been the subject of several articles in the Sunday Times.

Deer is accused in the PCC document of publishing incorrect information and also of having a conflict of interest caused by his involvement in the General Medical Committee's(GMC) investigation of Wakefield.

"Journalists clearly have a right and responsibility to report on matters of public interest", Wakefield said. "But they also have an obligation to make certain their information is accurate--especially when someone's livelihood and professional reputation are at stake. Mr. Deer has failed miserably as a reporter and has done great harm to me and many others conducting autism research".

As new parents we face decisions great and small; to inform them, our vocabulary expands to include new ideas, new worlds and phrases such as “sippy cup”, “Diaper Genie,” and “nasal syringe.” Open-minded, we spend hours researching car seats, organic mattresses, day care, the benefits of sleep schedules, and playgroups.

One of the most important decisions you’ll make is how to vaccinate your child. Educating yourself on the risks and benefits of vaccination is the first and most crucial step. Your baby’s doctor probably assumes that vaccines and the CDC-recommended vaccine schedule are safe, but you’ve heard rumors that there might be a connection to autism. Dr. Ari Brown has written an article called “Clear Answers and Smart Advice about Your Baby’s Shots” that makes it sound as if there is absolutely nothing to worry about.

What is the truth?

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Academy of Family Practitioners believe that vaccines are one of the most significant public health measures of all time. We couldn’t agree more. But are there unnecessary risks for the individual? Don’t forget that antibiotics were rightly greeted with similar enthusiasm, but we now know that antibiotics can backfire, and that more isn’t always better. Is it possible that the same could be true for vaccines?

Vaccines are recommended, licensed, and assessed for safety by federal authorities including the FDA and CDC, but how comprehensive are the safety tests? We know from one large university study that early administration of the DTP shot is implicated in the development of asthma. Is it true that serious side effects are rare? Would the vaccine manufacturer’s safety testing methods even reveal a link to autism, if there were one?

The vaccine-autism controversy persists because the appointed watchdogs are willfully ignoring evidence concerning vaccine safety issues; the AAP’s response to parents’ concerns has been to just insist more and more vociferously that vaccines are safe. But denying it will not dispel the controversy. Shouldn’t they be insisting instead on really good testing? The research to date is inconclusive. No one can say yet with complete certainty that vaccines do or do not cause autism.
Nothing is more important that than the health of our children. Please read this article, print it out, and take it to your pediatrician. Share it with other parents. It will take you about the same amount of time to read this as it takes to research that car seat, and it will let you have a more thoughtful and informed discussion about vaccines with your baby’s doctor.

BACKGROUND: During Monday's third stakeholder meeting by Institute of Medicine to review priorities in the National Vaccine Plan, panel members Dr. Louis Z. Cooper, (ex-head of the American Academy of Pediatrics) and Dr. Samuel Katz (one of the principal architects of US vaccine policy) stated that more honesty in communications with parents with regard to vaccines were needed. Dr. Cooper added that communication should be coordinated and based on sound vaccine safety science and noted that that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) spent $300 billion on the promotion of vaccines, while spending only $20 billion on vaccine safety research. Dr. Cooper stated that this sound science had been "done on the cheap" and was seriously deficient.

Many public comments at this meeting centered on parents concerns on lack of information received from physicians on vaccine risks and the need for a comprehensive study of vaccinated and unvaccinated populations to determine total health outcomes, possible detrimental effects of current timeline of immunization schedule and the number of vaccines given at any one time.

In sharp contrast, CDC's Glen Nowak, CDC's Media Director, response was "less is more" in terms of information given to parents. During yesterday's Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC) meeting, NVAC's Dr. Gellin stated that parent concerns were not limited to the autism community and the need to address these concerns to restore the public's trust in the immunization program.

Autism, Vaccines and the CDC: The Wrong Side of History

Even as the evidence connecting America's autism epidemic to vaccines mounts, dead-enders at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) -- many of whom promoted the current vaccine schedule and others with strong ties to the vaccine industry -- are trying to delay the day of reckoning by creating questionable studies designed to discredit any potential vaccine-autism link and by derailing authentic studies.

On January 12, a cadre of mid-level health bureaucrats left over from the Bush administration ignored Federal requirements for advance notice in order to vote to quietly strip vaccine research studies from funding allocated by Congress in the Combating Autism Act (CAA) of 2006. Members of Congress had said that this money should be used to study the vaccine-autism connection.

These rogue bureaucrats -- members of the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee -- held an unannounced vote to remove previously approved vaccine studies from funding under the CAA. Nearly all of the "Federal" members of the panel voted to remove the two studies, whose estimated cost was $16 million - or 1.6% of the billion dollars authorized by Congress for autism. The panel's civilian members, in contrast, voted nearly unanimously to retain the funding.

IACC's action to halt vaccine-autism research flies in the face of congressional intent. The bill's authors clearly stated that vaccine research should be funded. Even the esteemed Institute of Medicine has condemned CDC's methods. In 2005, an IOM panel condemned CDC for its "lack of transparency" in vaccine-autism research.

The bureaucrats responsible for this scandal are on the wrong side of history and it's hard to not attribute an obstructionist motive to their act since vaccine-autism research has already entered the realm of mainstream science. Serious scientists (except those tied to the vaccine industry) no longer debate whether vaccine-autism research should be done, but rather how it should be done, and by whom.

What causes seizures?

It’s a simple question, and a profoundly important one to people like me who have a child with seizures. The recent death of Jett Travolta from a seizure leaves parents like us feeling that may some day be our story, despite all our best efforts. Dan Olmsted’s recent article, “The Unnatural History of Seizures” appropriately places at least some of the blame on environmental factors, but leaves unanswered the question of exactly how such seizures are caused. However, recent research from New York University (NYU), and the Scripps Institute may answer some questions which have long eluded researchers. (“Peering Inside Skull of a Mouse to Solve Meningitis Mystery: Immune Cells Implicated in Fatal Seizures”, Science Daily, January 7, 2009)

In their series of experiments mice were infected with the lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV), a virus which is relatively harmless in humans, but which causes fatal seizures in mice. It has been known that the virus itself did not cause the seizures, but something in the immune system’s response to the virus did.

It was known that something set off a chain of events in which the leakage of fluid from the meninges (the protective covering of the brain and spinal cord), caused a swelling which led to seizures.

Using high-tech, intravital two-photon microscopy the scientists were able to observe that T-cells, the body’s virus fighters, were doing something very unusual. At first, the T-cells acted normally, making copies of themselves, migrating to the place where the virally-infected cells were located, but then things went awry. Instead of attacking the virally-infected cells and sticking tightly to them, it was as if they suddenly went blind. They didn’t attack the virally-infected cells, even though they were in close proximity.

But like a policeman called to a murder scene who can’t find a body, the T-cells called in reinforcements, specifically monocytes and neutrophils, two types of white blood cells which usually fight bacteria, not viruses. According to the Science Daily article, “Intravital microscopy showed massive numbers of these white blood cells breaking through the walls of blood vessels into the meninges, opening the floodgates for fluid to pour out and cause swelling.” And the swelling leads to seizures.

Problems with the immune system have long been associated with autism, but the exact mechanisms by which they cause their damage have been unclear. The authors of the report note that if they can inhibit the monocytes and neutrophils they will be going after the root of the seizures.

I would add a few extra questions to be addressed. What is blinding the T-cells to the
invaders in their midst? Could viruses and heavy metals have similar ways of blinding T-cells? Why have the body’s own guardians become the destroyers of the body? Rather than simply muting the misguided message of the T-cells to the monocytes and neutrophils it seems we should be figuring out how to restore the proper functioning of the T-cells. We need to discover how to return the guardians to their proper role.

The lives of many children, maybe even my own, hinge on the answers to these questions.

Advocates Demand Conflict-Free Vaccine Safety Studies

Washington, DC – In an unprecedented move on Wednesday, the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC) removed previously approved vaccine safety research from the Strategic Plan for Autism Research objectives. With apparent backing from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) representation, Committee chair and NIMH director Tom Insel implied that vaccine research conducted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) would constitute a conflict given the involvement of Health and Human Services with ongoing autism cases filed in federal vaccine court. The committee's action is in direct opposition to the majority of its public members who support vaccine research, and to the Congressional directive of the Combating Autism Act of 2006 (CAA) which specifically called for research into “potential links between vaccines, vaccine components, and autism spectrum disorder.”

In addition to the CAA's mandate for vaccine research, the legislation also called for the establishment of key research activities to arrive from “meaningful public involvement and advice” through the IACC which includes both government and private representatives.

“Ignoring the Congressional mandate for investigation into links between vaccines and the development of autism is a slap in the face to both Congress and the citizens of this country,” said National Autism Association board chair and parent Lori McIlwain. “Even the most basic studies comparing health outcomes in vaccinated vs. non-vaccinated populations are consistently ignored despite increasing support for them from legislators, physicians, and parents.”

“Dr. Insel's observation that the NIH is incapable of conducting conflict-free research supports what a growing number of parents believe,” commented Ms. McIlwain. “While the motivation for refusing to allow this critical research to go forward is likely more related to fear of what such studies would reveal, it's clear that the system managing our vaccine program and vaccine safety issues is corrupt beyond repair and needs a complete overhaul.”

In 2006, US Senators Ted Kennedy, Mike Enzi, and Chris Dodd agreed that the potential link between vaccines and autism warranted further study. “I want to be clear that, for the purposes of biomedical research, no research avenue should be eliminated, including biomedical research examining potential links between vaccines, vaccine components, and autism spectrum disorder,” stated Enzi.

Autism now affects 1 in 150 children. Last week researchers from the University of California at Davis concluded the dramatic rise in autism cases since 1990 cannot be blamed on population increases or the way the disability is classified or diagnosed.

The study's authors, from the university's MIND Institute, called for a switch in research emphasis from a genetic cause to environmental triggers including chemicals, medications, fertility treatments and childhood vaccines.

“It's no wonder parents around the country are questioning vaccines when government agencies refuse to investigate legitimate vaccine safety concerns,” said Ms. McIlwain.

ATLANTA (AP) — The woman who led the nation's public health agency in a post-Sept. 11 world of bio terrorist fears is out, her resignation announced in a Friday night e-mail to employees.

Dr. Julie Gerberding has resigned as director of the Atlanta-based U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and will be replaced on an interim basis by a deputy as of Jan. 20, the day President-elect Barack Obama is inaugurated.

The e-mail obtained by The Associated Press that discloses the news was sent Friday night to employees of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the umbrella agency over CDC.

Although an HHS housecleaning has been expected with the new administration, Gerberding's fate was somewhat unclear. The first woman to head the agency, Gerberding led the CDC through a post-Sept. 11 world of bio terrorist fears and was considered an effective communicator with legislators and the public.

In a November e-mail to staff, Gerberding said she expected she might be leaving her job after the Bush administration left office. But colleagues said she quietly had held out hope she would be allowed to stay on in the job.

Speculation that she might remain was fueled by Obama's selection of Tom Daschle to as HHS Secretary. Daschle, the former Senate Democratic leader, is from South Dakota — like Gerberding. Last month, she issued a statement to the press praising Daschle and his "tradition of finding practical solutions to very tough problems."

But Friday's e-mail confirms she will indeed be leaving office, a CDC spokesman said.

"As part of the transition process, the Administration requested resignation letters from a number of senior-level officials, including Dr. Julie Gerberding. This week, the Administration accepted Dr. Gerberding's resignation, effective January 20," CDC spokesman Glen Nowak said in a prepared statement.............................

Things Mickie Does

Every night before bed Mickie brings all his blankets out of his room and troughs them on the other side of the fence leading to the living room. They have to land just right and far enough from the gate, so he can't reach them- why? I don't know..........

Normally, it doesn't bother me much, but it's winter and some nights it gets really cold. A few weeks ago, when the heater broke and it took a week to get a repairman in, he still did it! I remember having to wear double socks, and pajama pants and I was still cold, so I can only imagine how he must have felt.

JOHN TRAVOLTA'S SON FOUND DEAD

I just found out about this and I'm so sorry for his parents. He is in a better place, but his parents must be devastated. I know that many reported that they were not doing anything to help him, but it's not true. I saw Mrs. Presley at a fundraiser for Thoughful House in Autin Texas. It's the hospital for children with autism ran by Dr. Wakefield. I don't know where it was written that they had to admit anything. So they didn't say publicly that he had autism, so what. It's no one's business.

This is unbelievable. How could schools still be allowed to to this. Everybody knows, you don't leave kids unsupervised, mush less one with ADHD-which is my opinion is a label, that makes kids who wear it feel really bad as it is.

If this doesn't scare the daylights out of you, I don't know what does. If this boy was able to communicate with his parents and this still happened, imagine the ones like my Mickie, that can't speak a word. I can only imagine what those poor parents must be going through.

For parents of children and adults with autism, our worse nightmare, is to think what would happen if our children would get lost or wonder away. In Mickie's case, who doesn't speak a word, I don't even like to think about it. He doesn't like to ware bracelets and he takes them off. I've even tried to buy the fabric ones and sewed them on, but he still ripped them off.

A temporary Tattoo on the other hand, could be a solution. Temporary Tattoos With a Purpose. Placed out of reach could do the job. I haven't tried them myself, by I plan on it. I don't know what else to try to keep him safe in case he wonders away somehow.

Their security is very important in these cases. They don't know how to take care of themselves like other kids and adults can, because depending on the severity, something like these tattoos, could be very helpful for adults with autism also. Temporary Tattoos with a Purpose

A study that ARI helped fund, "Biomarkers of Environmental Toxicity and Susceptibility in Autism," (citation below) has added more evidence in confirming the long-suspected link between mercury and autism.

The study is hailed as landmark research on several counts:

* It shows a direct relationship between the severity of the autistic symptoms and the levels of urinary porphyrins associated with mercury intoxication.
* Similarly, a direct relationship is demonstrated between mercury intoxication and glutathione levels (specifically, increased levels of oxidized glutathione (GSSG), and decreased plasma levels of reduced glutathione (GSH).
* In more general terms, the study, published in the "Journal of Neurological Sciences," provides scientific evidence of the effects of mercury intoxication on those with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs), as compared with the control group.

Vaccines Are Not the Cure For All Diseases!!

I know it was vaccines that caused my son Mickie's autism. He was never the same after the DTP shot, he received when he was 8 months old. As you can see in the photograph on the left. This is a perfect example of the careless behavior in doctors offices. He received three vaccines within 20 days of having bronchitis and taking medication known to suppress the immune system. By the way, this was at Kaiser Permanente, in Fotana California.

It was the MMR, that threw my son over the edge. He was fine until his first birthday, the day he got the MMR. He lost all the speech he had up till the point. He went from talking to not making any sense, to a few words and then nothing. His digestive system is a mess till this day. He is now 11 years old and still having terrible problems. He can't sleep, can't digest his food properly, has no muscle tone, can't talk and has the mind of a one year old. He is suspended in time.

For any new parent reading this, get informed, before you vaccinate. Once you vaccinate and something goes wrong, you are on your own!. Check your babies immune system. Have an immune panel done. I am not sure an immune deficiency can be detected before the age of five, but too many ear infections and colds is an indicator. Check for Mitochondrial problems. Look into your own families medical history. Autism is an autoimmune disorder, just like arthritis, diabetes, etc. If your have those diseases in your family, your baby may me susceptible to the ingredients in vaccines. I'm not against vaccines-I'm against the one size fits all approach we have today all over the world.

And anyhow, what is wrong with getting the measles. I had Rubella, Mumps and Measles. I remember having to stay in my room for two whole weeks during each of those illnesses. I got better and that was that. I never got vaccinated for those 3 diseases. People don't stay home anymore, when they get sick. If your baby or your kids have a cold, stay home. Life won't pass you by.

People need to learn to think for themselves. Vaccines are not the cure for all diseases, that humanity thinks it is. If parents keep trusting their doctors, the CDC, and the FDA, with a blind eye, as if they were God and had all the answers, things are only going to get worse. For all the medical advances, we have today, there are more sick people and disabled children today than ever before.

Autism Treatments Come With a Hefty Price

Well it has now been eight years since I started on the road to recover Mickie. I have tried most of the treatments and diets recommended and Mickie is not even close to recovery, but wait-I'm not implying that all these alternative therapies don't work. They just don't work for everyone and maybe, just maybe, Mickie is one of those cases.

I have tried a few of the diets-Gluten and Casein free for the past 7 years and "The Specific Carbohydrate Diet" for the past year. He doesn't seem to be in so much pain anymore, but he is still very much lost in his own world. I tried the Dan protocol too and it's very expensive.

I've heard about Stem Cell, but I'm skeptical. HBOT which I hope to try soon. He had one session a year and a half ago and on the trip home, it was the calmest I have ever seen Mickie all his life, but It's expensive and they push for forty treatments in a row, for 40 days, which amounts over 4,000 dollars and I just don't have it. The Autism Research Institute report that about 16% of cases, it causes get worse. I don't think my heart could survive Mickie getting worse then he is. Until I find a Doctor that will allow me to choose giving him a treatment once in a while-I wait.

It's not easy for me to say this, because recovering Mickie has been the driving force behind my determination and the source of my strength. Without the hope, I don't think I would have been able to get out of bed every morning and follow the same routine day in and day out, and almost becoming autistic myself, in other to keep Mickie's world predictable and diminishing the amount of stress he experiences, with not much success, because he lives in a constant state of stress in spite of my efforts.

Recovery comes with a hefty price, so with lots of money it's a real possibility, but without it, it's just a dream.

Thanksgiving with Mickie and Family

The day went well for the most part. Now days Thanksgiving is celebrated at my place as is every other holiday. Its easier for Mickie, since he follows nature's clock rather then the actual time clock. Whenever there is a gathering, which is not very often, Mickie starts ushering people out of the house, when the sun sets.

Today he let me dress him up, but he wouldn't let me put on shoes. We had a really nice time and I thought everything was perfect, then Mickie ran in his room, got naked and ran out to the dining room. Oh well, you can't win them all.

The following is part of an email I received from the Autism Research Intitute.

In May, Rebecca Estepp of San Diego, who has a vaccine-injured child with autism, contacted both presidential campaigns for clarification on their positions with regard to vaccine-safety reform. She made a plea for two Executive Orders to be issued within the first one hundred days of entering office: the removal of all mercury from all vaccines, and a moratorium on the addition of new vaccines to the recommended list for children, until the current vaccine schedule can be proven safe.

On October 20th, Estepp received a detailed response from Douglas Holtz-Eakin, senior policy advisor to the McCain campaign, stating that if elected, McCain "will work with all agencies to take all necessary steps in an expedient manner to ensure safe vaccines for every American family." Further, McCain endorsed parental vaccination choice stating, "The key to health care reform is to restore control to the patients themselves."

"In contrast, Senator Obama never responded to Estepp's requests for improved vaccine safety, responding to her only with regard to his position on autism. Earlier this fall, New Jersey parent Claudine Liss attended an Obama fundraiser with the express intent to get answers similar to those sought by Estepp. Liss explains, "He looked right at me and said, 'I am not for selective vaccination. I believe it will bring back deadly diseases, like polio.'"

Estepp extends a final plea to Senator Obama to clarify his position: "This is a party-neutral issue, and many of our parents are waiting to make up their minds on whom to elect. Senator McCain believes parents have a choice in how they vaccinate their children. I sincerely hope that Senator Obama misspoke that night in New Jersey."

Why I trust Sarah Palin

I have found that when it comes to special needs, the only people who really care and understand what we go through as parents of these special children are those who are going through the same thing. Palin's son Trig was born with down syndrome and her nephew has autism.

She knows to well the agony and the joy of raising a child with special needs. She is exactly what our community needs. "We need Sarah in the White House".

In a speech in Pittsburgh, Penn., last week, Palin pledged that a McCain-Palin administration would fully fund the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, exempt disability programs from the domestic discretionary spending freeze they plan to institute next year, and will provide school vouchers so families can send their special needs children to the school of their choice.

"Too often, even in our own day, children with special needs have been set apart and excluded," said Palin, whose infant son Trig has Down syndrome. "Too often, state and federal laws add to their challenges, instead of removing barriers and opening new paths of opportunity. Too often, they are made to feel that there is no place for them in the life of our country, that they don't count or have nothing to contribute. This attitude is a grave disservice to these beautiful children, to their families, and to our country -- and I will work to change it."

"That's more than the shortfall to fully fund the IDEA," she said. "And where does a lot of that earmark money end up? It goes to projects having little or nothing to do with the public good -- things like fruit fly research in Paris, France, or a public policy center named for the guy who got the earmark. In our administration, we're going to reform and refocus. We're going to get our federal priorities straight, and fulfill our country's commitment to give every child opportunity and hope in life."

Sarah carried her son and gave birth to him, with the knowledge that he had down syndrome. Now that to me, is what a real feminist is like. Anyone who puts her down for that is just envious, because they don't have the inner strength to do what she did.

This is why I trust her as the best choice for our kids future.

Disabled Kids Still Digging in the Trash at School

Yesterday on the way home from school, my daughter who took the videos, said that the school says that they want to teach the kids to take care of the planet by recycling, and she said in a really angry voice,

"The problem is that the kids in the Special Ed. class don't understand about responsibility, they just want their ice cream and the regular kids don't do it, because it's not cool to dig in the trash. Responsibility is doing what I did".

They didn't pick anything from the trash that day, and we were really happy, though my daughter was a little reluctant, because she said that that day was Club day, which happens once every two months, and there were no bottle and cans to pick up, because the kids get to buy foods different from the regular cafeteria food. She was right and today she saw them again picking bottles from the trash. How they can justify the treatment of this kids is beyond me. If I catch my son being treated like that, I don't think I could control myself.

Putting these kids in a situation where they are the target of ridicule and humiliation is not teaching them anything of value. If anything they will learn that they are less then the other children.

Disabled Students Humiliated-Update!

I have been digging more and what is happening is that the special ed kids are picking up recyclables. When they collect a certain amount by Friday, they get Ice cream. So after they eat lunch they walk around for the rest of their lunch, with plastic bags picking up cans and bottles from the floor and the trash. Recyclables or not, it's still trash. They are still in the middle of the cafeteria being exposed to the other kids' mean comments.

They dig in the trash and then they touch their face, gross! If I were given an option for or against my Mickie doing that I would oped out.

The regular kids are encouraged to do this too, but none of them do it, because they find it gross and embarrassing. Special kids on the other hand don't understand social subtleties, and all they know is that they might get ice cream on Friday. They should be getting ice cream anyway!!

I still think it's disgusting, humiliating and wrong in so many levels!!

Disabled Students Humiliated!

Last week as I was getting Mickie ready for school, one of his sisters said to me,

"Alta Loma Junior High"

"Mom me and my friend got really sad yesterday", I asked her why, and she said something that really hit home.

Apparently the kids from the Special Ed. class get to go to the front of the line to get their lunch, but after they're done, their job is to pick up trash in the cafeteria, while the regular students eat, make fun of them and throw extra trash for them to pick up.

These innocent kids laugh, while being laughed at, and pick every piece of trash thrown on the floor. All this goes on, under the watchful eye, of the principal and vice principal. This is what my daughter also said,

" While the regular kids eat lunch, the disabled kids come out 5 minutes before lunch is over and proctors tell them certain areas to clean up trash. Some of the kids keep throwing trash on the floor on purpose and saying, "Hey look at all those retards cleaning up crap, Ha, ha, ha." Then they go up to them and say, “Look there’s trash over there!"

May be these special kids don't understand what's going on, but that doesn't make it right. What is wrong with our society, that we can't bring ourselves to treat the mentally disabled with the dignity they deserve. The disabled have a right to be valued and respected. All of us should make it our responsibility to watch over them and protect them, not humiliate them. I fail to see what picking up everyone else's trash is teaching them. The brats who are dropping trash on the floor, should get written up for being slobs.

On Friday, I tried to go into the school during lunch to see for myself and was denied entrance.

Mickie Has Been Cranky

Yesterday, when I picked Mickie up from the bus, the driver told me that Mickie looked like he was crying on the ride back from school. I know they don't like him in that class and Mickie like most kids on the autism spectrum, can sense, when someone doesn't appreciate them. Something is not right with him, but I can't tell what it is.

Last night he fell asleep early, without his melatonin, but he was up by nine. I got up seven times throughout the night to check on him and every time I walked in his room, he was sitting on the corner of his bed wide awake and watching TV.

I was so tired this morning, that I woke up late. I didn't think I was going to have enough time to get him ready for school, but I did. I told the bus driver to tell the person who picks up Mickie from the bus, at school to please be patient with him, because he didn't sleep last night. I just feel that he is going to be all kinds of cranky today.

I couldn't be sure that she would remember, so I called his teacher. I let her her know about last night, but she said that he was actually being very good this morning. He was watching Dora the Explorer and was listening very quietly. Well who knew? Maybe he does better on less sleep. I wish I could say the same for me.

Extend Statute of Limitations for Vaccine Injury Claims

I few months ago I started a petition to extend the statute of limitations for filing a claim with the NAICP. I came up with this idea, because for most families, mine included, unfortunately, that statute of limitations runs out by the time we put two and two together and link our children's autism to vaccines. I think this program is designed to protect vaccine manufactures from liability and to keeps us from taking them to court as we should be allowed to do so.

I don't see why they are so shielded from lawsuits when it comes to vaccine injury and specially when autism is involved. The petition reads as follows:

We demand Congress take steps to extend the statute of limitations to allow all children affected by vaccine induced Autism to file in the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (NVICP). We demand the right to file a lawsuit until our children become an adult.

The Art Show

Well in the end I didn't take Mickie with me to the art show. My mom volunteered to babysit and the girls and I went by ourselves. It was nice to spend some time with them enjoying all the beautiful artwork. There was so much of the wrong foods there, that it would have been a disaster, because Mickie has a ravenous appetite, specially for gluten, casein and sugar containing foods.

Mickie did well with his grandma. My oldest son was there playing video games and he was ready in case Mickie got aggressive, but he didn't. Once he was done eating he started to push my mom out the door again, but she told him, "no Mickie I want to stay here", and he sat next to her for a little while and then went to his room, and fell asleep shortly after. We got home around 8:30 and all was calm.

Art Show Reception

Tomorrow night, the Pomona Valley Art Association has it's opening reception for their Annual Juried Show. This is my second year participating in this event. Last year I didn't even get to attend, in spite of receiving an award. I was so busy and overwhelmed with all the biomedical stuff, that I just couldn't leave him.

Since two weeks ago when I went to another art show and left Mickie with my mom, he gave her such a hard time. Tomorrow I will take Mickie with me along with his three big sisters. We will take the Convay Cruiser, which is a big stroller to keep him from running off.

I hope he doesn't decide that he needs all the lights off or wants to eat all the wrong foods at the buffet table. Keeping my fingers crossed, I will report back after the show.

New OCD Behavior

For the last few months Mickie has decided that he has to have his TV and DVD player on all day and night. I turn it off when he leaves for school, in order to give the appliances a break, but as soon as he gets home he runs in his room and turns it back on.

The DVD player plays the same DVD everyday. I don't know what I will do if the disk breaks. I have tried to play other movies. He used to love Ren & Stimpy, Cars, and the show Ed, Ed and Eddie, but now it has to be this one. It's got a blond baby boy and an Asian baby girl, while a really soothing womans voice sounds out single words.

If anyone turns off the TV, he goes ballistic! I can't even turn it off, when he falls asleep, because he instantly wakes up.

Mickie has a new Obsessive Compulsive behavior. Last night he discovered that a switch by his bedroom door turns of the plugs for the TV and DVD player. He turned it off and then back on, but the DVD won't turn on by itself, so I have to go fix it and by then he has started changing the channels and so the movie won't play.

He did this about 50 times in a row, becoming more and more upset each time. I finally stopped fixing the problem for him and just went to my room and waited it out. He cried and yelled and stimmed for 30 minutes by my door and then he stopped making so much noise and walked to his room. I then fixed the TV again and just jumped for joy. He laid down and fell asleep.

This morning at 5 o'clock in the morning, I was awaken by a rattling on my door. It was Mickie and he was trying to get me to fix the TV again, because, you guessed it; he turned the darn switch again. I didn't give in this time and I made him wait until seven. Needless to say he left the switch alone for the rest of the day.

Mickie is Going to Private ABA School!!

This week I recieved a call from Mickie's school district to let me know that they would give the go ahead for him to be placed in the private ABA school I had requested back in May. Apparently, the current arrangement is not going to work out.

Sure I am happy, since it's what I wanted in the first place, but other then asking me to cut his nails and complaining about his farts, I never heard anything from the teacher that could have given me any indication, that Mickie was to much for her to handle.

I was noticing his lack of progress and he was coming home with his cheecks red and raw from stimming, which told me they weren't keeping him busy.

For all the money being poured into Autism, you would think, that our kids out to be making more progress, then they are. Everything he knows, I taught him!
