The Autism Epidepic a Warning For New Parents

Michael was born healthy and flawless. He met all his developing milestones, then he received his first set of vaccines. That's when he started changing and lost eye contact. He had 11 vaccines by the age of one.

Autism and Disruptive Stim Last Video of 2017 New Years

Every winter for the past 10 years Mickie has done this particularly disruptive and annoying stim. He will lick his knuckles or his shirt and rub them on his face till it's raw.

This stim can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. His face becomes extremely chafed and even though it hurts he doesn't stop doing it.

Autism DNA Testing the Mutations of the MTHFR Gene

Mickie has mutations of the MTHFR Gene, which causes a buildup of homo-cysteine in the blood and that can cause seizures.

He has the MTHFR mutations (rs1695). People with this mutations have an increased inflammatory response when vitamin E (alpha-tecophenol) is introduced to the body.

"Autism Mickie Has Meltdownon at School Over Pizza....Keppra"

Last week Mickie had a meltdown over pizza. Apparently one of the classroom aids offered him pizza, not knowing he is not allowed to have pizza due to Casein and Gluten intolerance, then immediately after she learns that he can't have any and reminds him that he already ate, but by then he was so upset that it escalated into a big meltdown and he ended up banging his head on the floor two times.

I knew that Keppra, the medication he was prescribed to manage his seizures would make him irritable and he had been really grumpy in the last few weeks, but I was very surprised he had banged his head, since this had not happened in a few years. Self injury is the reason he was prescribed Risperdal.

I hope this will be just a one time thing.

Autism-Dental Surgery Day

After a very difficult month Mickie finally had his dental surgery. It took all day, between getting him up in the morning, keeping him from having any food until after the surgery. He didn't get to eat until that evening after we got home from the hospital.
