World Autism Day: Light it Up Black and Blue? - AGE OF AUTISM

Today was a day filled with fluff pieces about autism, but I have nothing to celebrate. Lets face it....autism sucks any way you look at it.

Kim Stagliano from Age of Autism says it all. Today is April 2nd. Some are celebrating Autism Awareness Day. I am not. To me, today is like Good Friday and Yom Kippur - somber days of reflection. World Autism Day: Light it Up Black and Blue? - AGE OF AUTISM:

Dr. Andrew Wakefield’s Lecture at Brandeis University

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011 was a triumphant day. Dr. Andrew Wakefield came to Brandeis, and Poul Thorsen – the Danish scientist who coauthored the infamous reports used to cast doubt on the vaccine-autism connection – was indicted on charges of fraud.

Why Medical Authorities Went to Such Extremes to Silence Dr. Andrew Wakefield

In this interview, Dr. Andrew Wakefield shares his personal and professional insights into a number of topics, from the gut-brain connection so often seen in autistic children, to the safety of a number of childhood vaccines.

But most importantly, he sets the record straight on the harsh criticism he’s endured as the author of one of the most controversial vaccine-causing-autism studies ever done.

In addition to his hotly contested MMR study, published in the journal Lancet in 1998, he has published about 130-140 peer-reviewed papers looking at the mechanism and cause of inflammatory bowel disease, and has extensively investigated the brain-bowel connection in the context of children with developmental disorders such as autism.

Internacional Autism Awareness Day

So today is the international day of Autism awareness. It's a day like any other at our house. I wonder if anything is going to change with the awareness day. There will probably be a few mentions here and there of how many cases and how hard it is to live with autism.

They'll be no mention about the causes millions of parents have been suspecting for years now. Vaccines are a touchy subject when it comes to "Big Pharma" and their beneficiaries in the halls Congress and the Senate loosing money. I don't want to see another cookie cutter story about what it's like to live autism. All I want to see is the treatments available now, being covered by all insurances, including government insurances, which don't cover then at the moment.

I want to see my son thrive again!!

Young Woman Featured in Gardasil Media Attention Passes Away.

Pajamas_gates_2We've learned today that Jenny Tetlock passed away on Sunday. Her neurologists cited an unusual form of childhood ALS. Others point to Gardasil. Our sincere condolences to her family whose blog is HERE. Below is a post we ran last July.

By Kim Stagliano

This article on the paralysis of Miss Jenny Tetlock, perhaps from her Gardasil vaccination, is from US News and World Report, a bastion of mainstream, conservative reporting.

Note that her father is a professor at a top university. We wish the Tetlock family, especially young Jenny, well. We wrote about her tragic situation
HERE. Did blogs help move this story along? We hope so.
